Sound Safari for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Immerse yourself in the natural world and enjoy all she has to offer through sound, touch and smell.
Sound in the wild is a complex affair and tells us so much more about lifestyle and relationships. Dominance and display, courtship and communication, selection and survival – all play out audibly.
Sound gives a true sense of place from the gentle rustling of leaves in the wind to the dramatic clash of antelope horns or warning call of a Go-away Bird.
A sound adventure is complemented by exploring the many textures in the bushveld. The rough bark of a Knobthorn tree, the smooth worn section of a rhino or elephant rubbing post, soft velvet leaves, sharp thorns, delicate petals. Feeling animal tracks in the sand and mud – so much to experience and learn.
And there is much to smell and, sometimes, taste too – the floral fragrance of wild jasmine, pungent grasses after the rain, the tartness of a sour plum and the sweetness of marula fruit.
We have a fund raising drive to sponsor local South African teens on a sound safari.
This project is one close to our hearts after our experience filming Call of the Wild with the inspirational Annika Barnard and her family.
